"Vocatus Atque Non Vocatus Deus Aderit"

("known or unknown, God is always present"  —
above the front door of C.G.Jung's home in Kusnacht, Switzerland)

O God
Who stirs life awake
From beginning to beginning
We are restless
Losses have crushed us
Our hearts have grown numb
The human touch has disappeared
Life has become a rush and a blur
Help us find a place to stand
For life to come back into view

Where is the place for us to be still
Why are we desperate
Why do we want to control
Why do we want more
Where is our true voice
Can our soul breathe
Has the fire gone out

We all suffer
We are alone
Our response can not be stolen
Suffering is difficult
Help us find our way
Our place beside all the others
Our place inside our heart
Where we are with the deepest
Of that which has always been
And always will be.

Help us find the eyes of the darkness
The grace of passion
The music that lets us live
Awake and knowing
Relaxing our grip
Easing our touch

Out of the deep places
Where the heart’s river
Once began will begin again
As a new day dawns.

A prayer for holding on - RSH
